As clients leave to go on holiday during the summer months, I use the time to reflect on the past year. As a result, I used the opportunity to update my website and develop my strategy for how I can help people communicate in English even more.
When I first launched my website in early 2017 as a side hustle. I was nervous, insecure, and a little clueless. All I knew was that I couldn't see myself working as an English teacher in a classroom forever. And so, I started experimenting with a website builder.
Since launching that first website (see image), I have come a long way. As I revisit it, I take pleasure in seeing some elements that are still reflected today.
For example, the green color says that language learning is a personal and empowering journey and that I refer to myself as a guide to help you reach your goal.
Today, Phil's Conversation has developed into a full-time business, and I intend to continue its growth.
In the past year, Phil's Conversation has grown to include its own app as well as a growing list of new Activation Tasks. The app is a wonderful way to set and monitor a client’s progress by providing each client with personalized Activation Tasks, vocabulary, and support to guarantee meaningful and relevant English practice.
I am also very excited about the beautiful illustrations that a wonderful friend of mine created. I want to thank Celine for doing the new illustrations and giving Phil’s Conversation a fresh look. She even made an illustration of me! Can you find it on the site?
In conclusion, the past three years have been a hard yet rewarding, and beautiful journey. I’m excited to continue helping people become better at communicating in English and I very much look forward to reflecting again in a year.
